VOGT Wire Upsetting Machine
Typ DSM 60 E8
The mechanical wire upsetting machine is used for cold upsetting of hightensile anchoring wire-heads on concrete prestressing wires up to .276 in. dia.
(BBRV method).

The wires to be upset are pushed up to a stop in the ciamping mechanism and then the upsetting operation is started by pulling the control lever. The wire is released automatically.
Standard equipment:
6 HP electric motor – Pushbutton switch with motor protection – 13 ft. of connecting cable (3 phases + earth) – Clamping jaws and upsetting hammer for a definite wire dia. as specified – Set of tools
Net weight approx. 1200 Ibs.
With the VOGT Wire Upsetting Mach ine wire-heads can be produced on prestressing wires of .157 to .276 in. dia. (in special cases up to .315 in. dia.) as per illustration at the left. For every wire size a corresponding pair of hardened ciamping jaws and a suitable upsetting hammer with plate of hard metal is required. These two wearing parts can be replaced.
The quality of the wire material and the dimensions of the wire-head should conform to the specifications of the Bureau BBR in Zurich. The anchoring wire-heads produced with the machine transmit the ultimate bad of the wire material perfectly. If suitable supporttrestles and separating forks (see Illustration) are available, up to 1200 wires can be upset per hour.
The straightened wire to be treated is cut oft at right angles priorto upsetting Forthis purpose we recommend the VOGT Parallel Cutter as per leaflet No. 70 06 118. For carrying out special work on building sites, hydraulic wire upsetting appliances are available. Essentially these consist of a portable upsetting tool, an electric high-pressure pump and a foot-operated valve for controlling the equipment. Technical data of these appliances which can be built for wires up to 1/2 in. dia. will be supplied on request.
Admissible tolerance of wire diameter ± 0,1 mm
Cold upset BBRV wire-heads on single wires as a fixed or movable anchorage of prestressed wires up to 1/2 in. dia., chiefly for prestressing factory-produced structural elements (beams, slabs, pipes, masts, etc.).
Anchoring wire-heads at the ends of the individual vvires of BBRV prestressing cables for all conventional prestressed concrete structures (bridges, tanks, buildings, borehole anchors, etc.).
